ARCELORMITTAL DOFASCO JOINS THE UNITED WAY MILLION DOLLAR CLUB
Hamilton – November 9, 2009 – ArcelorMittal Dofasco today announced a $1,000,000 donation to the United Way of Burlington & Greater Hamilton’s annual fundraising campaign. The donation, which includes a corporate contribution and a donation by employees, represents the largest single contribution to the United Way campaign.
In presenting the cheque to United Way, Graham Browne, Vice President Human Resources and General Administration highlighted the generosity of the employees.
“ArcelorMittal Dofasco and ArcelorMittal Dofasco employees have a long history of generously supporting community organizations such as the United Way. We do this because we know that our actions have broader implications in the community and that contributions like these help to build strength in the community and make it a better place to live.”
Today’s announcement is part of the company’s Community Strength campaign that the company is hoping will underscore the important contribution of its community partners, represented in 7 sectors, including: United Way, Healthcare, Education, Arts, Sports and Social Services.
Joining Graham Browne in the presentation was Juergen G. Schachler, President and Chief Executive Officer as well as representatives from the Employee Donations Committee.

The 2009 Burlington Campaign Chair, Gaston Germain who spoke for the entire Campaign Team said, “This contribution stands out – not only because of its sheer magnitude, but also because it reminds us all that we live in a generous, giving community, a place where collective action is a value we embrace and where supporting each other is a way of life.” He thanked ArcelorMittal Dofasco and its employees for the tremendous donation to our communities and for the time and energy, passion and commitment they continue to demonstrate.
Commenting on the donation, United Way of Burlington & Greater Hamilton CEO Len Lifchus said “As a new resident to Burlington and Greater Hamilton, I am truly inspired by the generosity of everyone at ArcelorMittal Dofasco. Even during difficult economic times their commitment to the community is overwhelming.
