At the Central Police Station in downtown Hamilton on Thursday May 31, the amazing volunteers from St. John Ambulance Therapy Dogs program hosted a fundraising BBQ to show their support for the United Way.
There was great food and great company. Some volunteers were busy serving lunch while others, along with their canine companions, visited with attendees. The dogs demonstrated how they provide unconditional love and attention to the people they visit (and an adorable trick or two!)
The program (funded by United Way of Burlington & Greater Hamilton) provides patients and the elderly with visits from welcoming four legged friends. The Therapy Dog Program has helped make friendly visits to over 2,000 clients in long-term care facilities, as well as the Juravinksi Cancer Centre in Hamilton.
