Priority Areas

In 2008, United Way invested over $4.7 million in our health and social services network.

At United Way of Burlington & Greater Hamilton we started with conducting research into where we are as a community, and where we are heading. We followed this research with a community consultation and both tools have helped to identify areas where we know we can make a difference.

With this knowledge, we identified three priority areas -- our Investment Priorities:

Creating supportive neighbourhoods that enable seniors to maintain their independence and dignity.

Investing in stronger families through counselling and support programs that provide hope in times of crisis.

Building healthier communities that enable newcomers and refugees to reach their potential and play a valuable part in the community.

With the support of the Investment & Linkages, Community Impact Committees and Citizen’s Review volunteers, community dollars invested in the United Way are being well managed and create significant long-term impact in our communities.
