Strengthening Neighbourhoods
Community Living Burlington – lowering barriers and increasing independence
Since working with Community Living Burlington in 2000, Crystal has demonstrated how and why she lives up to her nickname as “the shining star”.
With the assistance of the life Skills program, funded by United Way, Crystal secured an interview with Marks Work Warehouse where she now works. The Life Skills program provides basic life skills, training, social and recreational activities with financial remuneration to adults with developmental disabilities.
“I am grateful to be part of this program, and the opportunity it provides
me to work in a job that I love. I feel independent and more self confident,” says Crystal.
The partnership between United Way and The Carpenter Hospice is just another example of how working together can make a real difference in our communities.
