The United Way Burlington and Greater Hamilton 2013 Annual Campaign is committed to finding new ways to help your community!
This year the Burlington Campaign Cabinet (comprised of leaders in the community volunteering their time to encourage others to become engaged with the United Way) has created a sports and recreation division of the Annual Campaign. Sports and recreational organizations in the Burlington community can now partner with the United Way to give back to the place where they work and play. Partnering with the United Way helps support the community, and provides sports organizations with the opportunity to expand their community involvement and presence within the neighbourhood.
The Burlington Bandits and the Burlington Vintage Baseball league have both signed on to be a part of this exciting new partnership opportunity.
The Burlington Bandits (http://www.burlingtonbandits.com/) will offer United Way donation pamphlets within their game day programs, host a donation jar and banner by their entrance podium, as well they will donate half of all the money raised from their fifty/fifty draw to the United Way. The Bandits will hold ‘United Way Days’ and are currently working to create even greater awareness through a number of other partnered initiatives.
Burlington Vintage Baseball (http://www.vintagebaseball.net/) or BVB, will be kicking off an online initiative to support the United Way. Each team website will have a United Way logo and donation / site-link – promoting engagement and support to the United Way.
All money raised within the Burlington community, stays in the Burlington community. Funds raised by the Burlington Bandits and Burlington Vintage Baseball partnerships will directly support vital social-service programs in Burlington – programs like Halton Family Services, that provides counselling to help people in Burlington struggling with mental health issues.
Opportunities to partner with the United Way is open to any sports or recreation organization within the Burlington community. If you are a member of a sports group and would like to know more about how to get your team / league involved, please use the information below to contact the United Way. Thank you!
